Tour of Fishmongers’ Hall

The Fishmongers’ Company is one of the Twelve Great Livery Companies of the City of London, and among the most ancient of the City Guilds. For over 700 years they have upheld standards in the trading of fish and shellfish and supported the fisheries industry – roles which remain very important today.

Fishmongers’ Hall was destroyed by the Great Fire, rebuilt twice thereafter and then devastated by bombs during World War II but restored to its former glory and was a spectacular building to visit full of history and historical items and paintings from ‘Wat Tyler’s’ dagger to the famous Annigoni portrait of the Queen.

Claire Crawford was a wonderful tour guide. She was patient and full of knowledge. The tour was a sell out.

Thank you very much to the Fishmongers’ Company and to the kind recommendation of Sir Mark Lennox-Boyd.
